Large-Scale, Beyond-HD Displays Go Mainstream with Mersive’s SOL Harmony

Mersive Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of beyond-HD display management software, today announced at InfoComm 2010 its new SOL Harmony advanced display management system. SOL Harmony automatically aligns and blends multiple projectors into one beyond-HD image making large-scale visualization of pictures, models, drawings, and data easy and affordable for commercial, academic, and government endeavors.

SOL Harmony receives input from any industry standard video source, such as a PC or video wall controller, and automatically aligns and blends the output to an array of projectors creating one seamless display. The software handles six inputs and six outputs per system, 10 megapixels max per system; multiple systems can be daisy-chained to go beyond 10 megapixels. SOL Harmony is based on the company’s SOL Server 2.0, sophisticated display calibration software that automatically aligns the geometry, color, and brightness of multiple projectors used together to create one image. The system works with any set of projectors supporting wide field of view displays and complex surface geometries, including flat, curved, cylindrical, and spherical.

“For the first time, a display management system eliminates the cost barrier of combining multiple projectors into one seamless, large display of extraordinary resolution and quality,” stated Rob Balgley, CEO of Mersive.

Traditional methods of creating large-scale displays involve the use of either an expensive projector with room size restrictions for its long throw distance or multiple projectors needing manual alignment which sub-optimizes image quality. Through its automatic alignment and blending capabilities, SOL Harmony provides the best of both worlds, creating optimal imagery and extraordinary resolution from standard projectors that can be used in common-sized rooms.

Large, beyond-HD displays are used in a wide range of corporate, academic and government applications. For example, manufacturing and architectural design companies use them to review CAD drawings prior to fabrication. Universities use them to teach visual concepts to large classes. The military uses them for situation briefings and security monitoring. Through its technology and products, Mersive expects to make large format, high resolution displays, which have traditionally been limited to capital-intensive fields, available to a broader audience by making them simple and inexpensive.
