Mersive Releases Sol GPU Update

Troy Suttle

Mersive, a provider of display management and collaboration software, today announced the availability of Sol GPU 14.02. The newest version of the company’s flagship Sol software is the simplest, most universal version of Sol and brings an unprecedented simplicity and affordability to large-scale, beyond-HD displays.

Before Mersive introduced Sol software in 2006, the only way to achieve large scale, ultra high-resolution displays was by using very large expensive projectors that required special room requirements.  Mersive’s Sol software changed this by enabling the blending of multiple commodity projectors to produce that same result.

Similar to previous versions of Mersive software, Sol GPU uses a digital camera to measure geometry and brightness intensity of a multi-projector display. The software then computes an alignment solution that will produce a seamless image from multiple projectors. Sol GPU is aimed at general purpose users who are looking for the performance of professional A/V solutions for conference rooms and other applications requiring both size and resolution without the expense and specialized expertise traditionally associated with this level of performance.

“By tying multiple projectors together with intelligent, automatic alignment software, Sol GPU allows customers to buy, use, and install a massive high-resolution wall as simply as a flat-panel,” said Mersive CEO, Rob Balgley. “This newest version Sol GPU sets a new standard for ease of use.”

Designed for displays running a Windows 7, multi-head GPU graphics solution, Sol GPU provides a fully integrated software-only warp/blend solution in which no other hardware is needed. Sol installations offer a significantly lower total cost of ownership.  New features in this release include:

  • Fast and simple one-button re-calibration lowers maintenance and support costs.
  • On-screen calibration control eliminates the need for a separate control monitor.
  • Enhanced brightness checks provide an even higher image quality.
  • Ability to change image mode (fill, letterbox, and overscan) without recalibrating saves time.
  • Improved user interface and additional in-product help files increase ease-of-use.
