Solstice vs Airtame

While Solstice and Airtame are both wireless streaming solutions, they operate differently and are designed to solve different problems.

Airtame solves the problem of eliminating the video cable, but that’s it.

Meetings are a fact of life for many people, but slow startup times make them even longer than necessary for most knowledge workers. A primary culprit is the cable that connects a user’s laptop to the in-room display. Commonly, the issue is that the video cable isn’t quite long enough, doesn’t have the right adapter, provides a bad connection, or just doesn’t work. Airtame solves this problem in the most direct way possible by using a dongle to create a wireless bridge from your device to the display. You must download an app to your device, even smart phones, and use it to stream what is shown on your screen to the larger display(s).

Go Beyond Presentation: Anyone can connect & share content using Solstice.

Solstice takes a different approach.  We believe that single-threaded, presentation style meetings (where participants may only contribute content to the discussion one at a time) do not adequately address the social requirements of effective, collaborative meetings.  Solstice also “cuts the cable” with WiFi, but additionally provides a fully interactive, one-to-many style interface.  Solstice allows unlimited users to connect and share unlimited content posts to a display, even across multiple locations on the same network. Anyone connected to the display can rearrange, stack, or enlarge any piece of content to provide context at any time. It would drive you crazy to have to request permission from the current speaker every time you wanted to speak up on a conference call – why would you tolerate that limitation in a content conferencing solution?

Other Considerations:

Mirroring

Solstice allows mobile users to mirror their screen to a display without downloading an app, and even provides a Bonjour Proxy to enable iOS mirroring on networks that do not allow broadcast traffic.  Airtame does not support device mirroring.

System Integration

Both Solstice and Airtame provide a centralized management platform, which is important for an enterprise-scale deployment. However, only Solstice has a robust API that allows you to integrate your collaboration solution with existing infrastructure like room control panels or 3rd party dashboards.

Airtame lets you remove a cable from your meeting room, but Solstice provides a truly enterprise-ready collaboration solution that facilitates the best meetings you’ve ever had.  Try it today!
